Been A while

Well It has been a while. With christmas around the corner I have been depressed. I don't think we will be able to do hardly any christmas.  Our bills are dragging us down. There's so much I wanna do for my son and husband and this year it just isn't possible. I found a nice website called wish upon a hero. It is getting colder everyday and on christmas day we are suppose to visit my mom in alabama. I can't believe how close christmas is. My son is improving so much in school it is amazing! I credit his teachers for that his behavior is better and he just seems to like this school. Well Hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday and memorable. Remember Jesus is the reason for the season!

Sickness

It's been a while since I posted. I had been sick for about a week I thought it was just the common cold along with sinusitis. I went to the doctor Thursday and when I got there they took my temp it was 104.5 ! I had no idea it was that high.  The doctor immediately gave me two tylenol and 30 minutes later checked it again it had went down a degree. She still wasn't satisfied so I got liquid motrin and they checked again it went down another degree. She then gave me two shots, one steroid and one antibiotic. She thought I had sinusitis and bronchitis. The doc then decided to check me for the flu. The test came back with the result of me having Type A flu.  
Now to my son he has been doing really well in school with his behavior and even improved at home. We are proud of him!  Today we are having thanksgiving dinner with my mom and sisters because they all have to work thanksgiving and my mom lives in Alabama so it's hard for her to come up here alot. Halloween and Special olympic bowling

It has been an interesting few days. Me and my husband got our son to go trick or treating but it wasn't met without a struggle. He was dressed as a pit crew member from nascar. He waited all day to go and when the time came he cried and said he didn't want to say trick or treat that he just wanted to ask nicely so we told him that was fine. He then decided he wanted the bucket that had the words on it so he could just hold it up haha ! finally out we went but the only place we made it to was Wal mart so the different depatments had candy and my sisters  work there so they helped.  After we got back we went next door and they gave him candy. Then the costume came off he said he didn't like it and we still had a cubscout party to attend but we didn't make him wear it. The party lasted a little over an hour because the kids all wanted to go trick or treating but of course Andrew was finished he wanted no more of that.
Fast forward to today , He had special olympics bowling and he had so much fun. He got 4th place in his class. The place was packed with all the area atheletes and after it was over he wanted to go home with me and his dad so the teacher said we could take him. We went to hardees and had lunch. We noticed Andrew smacking both his ears during bowling he only does that when he's about to get upset or too much going on.  I will go for now and try my best to keep this going. Frustration!!!!

Yesterday we received a letter from our son's teacher. Basically it says our son decided he was going to quit school and told the teacher he hates school he hates math. He refused to sit at the table to do his work. He said he was going home and just had a negative attitude all afternoon. It is so frustrating because that letter also told us to encourage him to have a positive attitude. We have to go through this every year. We are always encouraging him and He still does this I am at a loss at what to do. Sometimes I just wish it was as easy as turning on and off a light but I know it isn't possible. Well some good news is I am finally getting people interested in buying candles. I really want this to work out because we want to take our son on trips and to places we never got to go. I really appreciate all my friends. I will close for now.

Candles

Finally!

Finally it's warmed up! and it is sunny. My son went back to school today and we gave him 3mg of melatonin last night. He swallowed it ya! He took it at 9:30 pm and was asleep by 11:00 pm. He was a little more cheery this morning so I am hoping and praying this works for him. I have been researching Florida and it seems to be a better environment and a healthier place for me and my son. I just wish we could afford to move. Being on a monthly check is so hard on us. There are things we want to do with our son but it's harder considering the check has to be stretched the whole month. Anyway, I know I am blessed to have what I have. My husband is wonderful and so is my son. My sisters and Mom are a great blessing also I love them all.

What's sleep ?

My son has not been sleeping much this has been going on since he was a year old. We had him on melatonin for years and the only way he would take it is crushed in his juice. Melatonin is a natural chemical that your body has to help you sleep and alot of autistic children lack the adequate amount to help them sleep. He was no longer drinking his Juice so it was wasted and it was so expensive. Anyway, since he has been out of school it has gotten worse. He was up till 3:30 AM and he got into bed with us at that time and at 4:30 he was back in his room. He finally fell asleep but was back awake at 9:30 AM poor guy he ask us today to give him Tylenol PM I told him we couldn't he was too young. So we bought melatonin and told him now you have to swallow this and ask do you think you can? he said yes so I will find out if he can or will. I will do a follow up later. Thanks for reading.

Going through some problems

I thought I should give a little information about myself so here it goes. Growing up I had a lot to deal with being teased by kids, in and out of hospitals, Always on antibiotics and even the county school district didn't want to deal with me. My mom fought to get me everything I needed number one was an education and to be in a mainstream school and mainstream class. Sorry if I bounce around I type whatever comes to me. Back to what I was saying. I have taken so many antibiotics it has destroyed my teeth and I can't afford to have them pulled. My doctor has tried to get tenncare/medicaid to pay for dental work saying it's medically necessary and their response even after seeing pictures is it is not medically necessaryall it is is cosmetic. SoIf you see me out and about and I don't smile that is why I am so self concious about it I haven't even had a family portrait with made. My husbands teeth are bad too but it's because we can't afford dental care. Also I have been dealing with pressure sores for 2 years now on my foot. I almost lost my foot because the sore was real bad and the foot was swollen beyond belief. The sore is almost gone and the swelling has gone down considerably but I still can't wear but one shoe and that makes me self concious also. I feel so ugly and so Isolated. Yes I might have a positive attitude on the outside but inside I am hurting and feel alone. I know these feeling will pass but that is what I am going through. alot of times I don't even want my husband to touch me because I feel so unattractive and what makes it worse is I have to completely depend on him. Long, dreary day

It has been raining off and on for a few days. I am beginning to wonder if the sun will ever come out. I can tell my son is ready to go back to school because he is getting into trouble more haha. We are hoping to take him to the circus at the end of this month. He says he doesn't like the circus but he has never been also we got him the movie monsters vs. Aliens for keeping his room clean. It was a good movie and My son sat through it the entire movie which Amazed me. After it was over he decided he wanted a video game. We ask him before we bought the movie which he wanted a movie or a game he said movie and we ask four times if he was sure he said yes. Well now he decides he doesn't like the movie and wants to take it back. So we had to tell him it doesn't work that way. Anyway, I will close for now Bye!

Busy weekend

It has been an interesting weekend. Friday we had severe weather and tornado sirens. Never saw or heard a tornado but it was very windy, dark and raining hard. Our son was so scared poor kid. We went into the hallway as a precaution and his soccer coach called and said I guess you figured out practice is cancelled haha. Andrew did not fall asleep til after 1 AM and we had to get up saturday for his soccer game. It was cold and wet so everyone was miserable but his team won. Saturday evening we went to my cousins birthday party he turned 2. It was held at a place called the bounce barn. It has different inflatable slides and rooms and andrew had so much fun but when it was time to leave he had a huge meltdown and I was told to take him out more and he wouldn't be like that. I know they were trying to help but it doesn't matter how much we take him out if he doesn't want to go everyone knows it. Today he is Just resting. He told us he played too much yesterday how cute is that? I will write more later. Oh and one more week for fall break.

Interesting weekend

To start off friday was my son's last day at school for the next two weeks so FUN FUN. He had soccer practice friday and it was so beautiful but cool. He did get in a little trouble and had to sit out for two minutes. He talked back to the coach and it gets so frustrating because he just says whatever he feels like saying and it's not always appropriate. My son's SSI did get put in the bank and I am so thankful. My son had a soccer game saturday and he couldn't play much. His allergies were real bad eyes puffy, sneezing, coughing, and runny nose so the coach kept him out of the majority of the game because he just couldn't focus poor baby. Anyway, we came home then went to his cub scout meeting where they had a birthday party for one of the scouts leaders and all he wanted to do was lay around. When we got home we gave our son some allergy medicine. That was a fight he did not want to take it at all but we managed to get it down him. This morning at 5:30 our lab was in her carrier whining and kept on till we got up at 6:30 and to our not so pleasant surprise she had the runs all in her carrier and after my husband cleaned everything up including her she started throwing up. We had to go to the store and get pepto yes pepto to a dog. She finally is better and we are exhausted. So for now I bid a good night.

Report Card

My son got his report card and I must say I am impressed. He has improved alot since last year. He had a good day today and we went to a pawn shop and got him a nice 19 inch TV for 35 bucks. Gotta love pawn shops ! anyway, My son has one more day then 2 weeks off for a fall break. Saw an old friend today and we had a nice talk. Now My husband is trying to get my son in the tub he is running around in his birthday suit. It's a constant battle to get him in the tub, get him up for school, Brush his teeth, and clip his nails. Not to mention getting his haircut. We love him dearly and it's all worth what we go through everyday. He is such a good child and a blessing.

Half Day Oh NO!!

Today is half day at my son's school. Every wednesday is half day and I still don't know why. Anyway, He went to school with no problem but yesterday afternoon at soccer practice he really showed himself. He fell down and said he was hurt but when my husband went out to the field he took off! So his coach made him sit out because he was disrupting practice and to be honest I was so embarassed. He started crying and having a huge fit. Thank god for his coach he is such an understanding guy. He came over and explained to our son why he was pulled out then took him back out to the field and worked one on one with him. Sometimes it's so hard dealing with an autistic child but I am thankful that my son can communicate and is able to do alot. If you wonder where I get my strength it's through faith and prayer and even though my husband has Aspergers syndrome he is so helpful and supportive. Well time to close this for now but I will write more later.

Rough Morning

This morning our son did not want to get up to go to school. When we got him to school the teachers aid had to wake him up and get him out of our van. We were driving off and All of the suddden our son took off running toward the van. That was the scariest thing we have seen him do. He had ran away from the teacher's aid. My husband stopped the van and got out. He was so mad but he got him back to the Aid. The aid was trying so hard to catch him. Anyway, After that we went to the Social security office. Our prayers have been answered and thank god our son will get his SSI back. Thanks To all who prayed. I will post more later tonight.

A Mess has happened

Hello Some things Have happened. I got a letter from Social Sec. Friday and it said they were stopping my sons check as of October because they did not receieve the Representative payee report. I filled that out in june and had been getting letters saying they needed it. I called them on several ocassions and left numerous messages. When I got the letter friday I contacted the National office they informed me They have my representative payee report online and it had been approved but they can't start the check back til local office says to. Without His check we will not be able to get food or take him back and forth to school. We are struggling enough now and we do not qualify for food stamps I am not sure what we will do. I am at a loss. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. I will keep everyone posted.

My First Blog

Good Morning! My name is Angela I was Born with Spina Bifida. I am confined to a wheelchair. To start when I was born my parent's were told I would not live. I had to be taken to Vanderbilt in Nashville & was not expected to live long enough to get there. When the doctors seen I was still alive after my first surgery they then told my parents I would live no longer than a week. My parent's were in their teens so they were terrified. I continued to outlive the doctors predictions. Alot of people were praying for me. I have had a total of 14 surgeries. One which was a C-section I will get to that story in a later blog.

This is my first blog so sometimes I may jump around in my stories so bare with me. If you have any comments or questions feel free to leave it in the comments. I will post more later today if possible.
